Salem is known around the world for the 1692 incident involving accusations of witchcraft. But there’s more to this city. Much more.

Over the centuries Salem residents became wealthy from many colorful, maritime businesses, including establishing trade with China and the far East as well as privateering in the War of 1812.

Today it’s home to the highly-regarded art PEM art museum and other history museums, fabulous shops, restaurants and breweries, artists and crafters, and a growing university.  On a summer’s day in Salem, you can go for a sail, relax on the beach, stroll along the harbor, do some shopping, have a great meal, enjoy live music, and more.

Plus, Salem is only about a half-hour north of Boston by train or car—or a 1-hour cruise on the scenic ferry to Boston harbor! You’ll want to save some time to enjoy this beautiful, historic city and try some of its fine restaurants.
