Income Digest Explained
In Case You Missed It
Last year, I started writing a series explaining our various investment advisories in an effort to help answer one of the most common questions we receive from investors, “Which Cabot publication is right for me?” You can read the other issues in the series and any other past issue of Cabot Wealth Advisory on our Web site archives, http://www.cabot.net/Issues/CWA/Archives.aspx.
Last summer, we expanded the Cabot family of newsletters by purchasing Dick Davis Digest and Income Digest. This is what publisher Timothy Lutts wrote at the time: “Now, it’s our honor to be the steward of these well-respected publications. Our goal is to honor the past reputation of these Digests, while improving the newsletters so they serve subscribers better in this Internet age. I’ll be telling you much more about these Digests in the future.”
And that’s exactly what I plan to do today with Income Digest.
Income Digest is a monthly collection of the best income ideas selected from more than 250 newsletters. Income Digest was established 12 years ago, and is widely recognized for its broad and impartial selection of income investment ideas from the best investment advisors in the business. Our long-time editor, Denise Saari, selects investments ranging from dividend-paying stocks to bonds to REITs to Canadian Royalty Trusts to income ETFS and mutual funds. Income Digest best suits investors seeking income, safety and profits.
Denise uses her expertise to sift through all of these newsletters every month to find the absolute best opportunities for subscribers. This would be pretty much impossible for an individual to accomplish–the sheer volume of material and cost involved would make such an endeavor prohibitive. Additionally, Denise uses her many years of experience to ferret out the best recommendations from the best advisors, so you get handpicked selections from a top editor.
Each issue features an Investment Spotlight, a profile of the most promising and compelling income-producing recommendation selected from all the newsletters that Denise reads. This pick is truly the cream of the crop!
In addition to the Investment Spotlight, subscribers read excerpts on dozens of top income investment ideas. Some of the picks are detailed in long write-ups, while others are covered in a briefer format. And for investors interested in more than just income-producing stocks, the Digest also covers mutual funds, bonds and ETFs. Each recommendation comes with the most updated financial data available to help you make the best investment decisions.
The recommendations in Income Digest are made by the top investment advisors in the industry, like Carla Pasternak of High-Yield Investing; Charles B. Carlson of Drip Investor; Patrick McKeogh of Wall Street Forecaster; Richard J. Moroney of Dow Theory Forecasts; Richard C. Young of Intelligence Report; Stephen Leeb of The Complete Investor; and Nick Lanyi of High Yield International, just to name a few of the hundreds we review.
Each issue of Income Digest contains a detailed table that provides subscribers with important information on each recommendation. It’s all in a concise, easy-to-read format so you can look up a variety of information about each recommendation, such as yield, dividend and valuation.
To use all of that information, you need to be aware of the big picture, basically, what is going on in the stock market. This can be found in a section called Mood of the Markets, which highlights forecasts of the top market timers in the country summarized in concise, non-technical language, providing a picture of the broad market direction. You get to read what those who live and breathe the market are thinking and doing. This section keeps you in touch with the pulse of the market.
In the section, At A Glance, subscribers get a snapshot of treasury rates and bond trends. Each issue of Income Digest features a special situation or an outstanding group of stocks in Street Talk. And Food for Thought provides straight talk on financial planning issues such as retirement, estate tax issues, insurance, annuities and more more.
The publication’s subscriber base includes individual investors, investment professionals and libraries around the world that rely on the expertise found in Income Digest in selecting the best income investment ideas from the very best newsletters.
Income Digest is published 12 times a year and is available in either email pdf or print format. Subscribers also have access to archived issues that provide thousands of investment ideas.
I hope this helps explain another one of our investment advisories. Remember, you can read the entire series of my many explanatory notes, and other archived issues of Cabot Wealth Advisory, on our Web site, http://www.cabot.net/Issues/CWA/Archives.aspx. And as always, don’t hesitate to email us with any questions, comments or suggestions.

Don’t Miss This Once-in-a-Lifetime Buying Opportunity
We can help you get your portfolio on the right track and recoup the losses you’ve suffered during the market’s plunge. Cabot Benjamin Graham Value Letter uses a time-tested system to bring investors the best undervalued stocks in the market–and they’re selling at bargain prices right now. The system, laid out by the father of value investing and followed by billionaire investor Warren Buffett, has brought investors returns of 20% annually since its inception 80 years ago.
If you want to safeguard your money and patiently wait for solid stocks to climb higher in price, this letter is for you. Editor J. Royden Ward says now is the time to buy, especially because many great stocks are so inexpensive. He even called this an once-in-a-lifetime buying opportunity.

In case you didn’t get a chance to read all the issues of Cabot Wealth Advisory this week and want to catch up on any investing and stock tips you might have missed, I have links below to each issue.
On Monday, Timothy Lutts wrote about why entrepreneurs are important, citing Thomas Edison’s invention of the incandescent light bulb, Steve Jobs’ introduction of new products at Apple and his own father’s creation of Cabot Market Letter back in 1970. Tim featured an airline stock with big potential that has recently been featured in Cabot Top Ten Report. Featured Stock: Ryanair (RYAAY).
On Thursday, Michael Cintolo wrote about the Economic Cycle Research Institute’s U.S. Weekly Leading Index. Unfortunately, the reading on the index tells Mike that the next few months aren’t going to look much better for the economy, but there are ways to take advantage of this. Mike discussed three things you can be doing right now while the market continues to be indecisive. Mike finished up by writing about a leading stock in the education sector. Featured Stocks: ITT Technical Institute (ESI), Apollo (APOL), DeVry (DV) and Strayer Education (STRA).
Until next time,
