While the market continues its volatility, the Dow Jones Industrial Average managed to rise about 400 points overall this month. The Fed delayed raising interest rates again, which seemed to make investors happy. And better economic news—including rising mortgages and lower unemployment numbers—added to a more positive attitude.
Advisor sentiment also swung to a more bullish point-of-view, and in our Market Views, you’ll see that the majority of our contributors are fairly optimistic, too.
This month’s Spotlight Stock is a self-storage Real Estate Investment Trust whose shares are performing quite nicely despite rising rate fears. The company is growing by acquisition as well as same-facility sales, and pays a nice dividend. You’ll see in my Feature that this sector of the Real Estate Investment Trust industry is outshining the competition, and our Spotlight Stock is the leader in this arena.
With the market continuing its 100+ day bounces, many of our contributors leaned toward higher-dividend-paying stocks this month, and you’ll have a nice selection from the food, collecting, real estate, entertainment and energy sectors.
