Ready to Rebound

Here’s what the talking heads were saying. Irma wasn’t as bad as expected and North Korea didn’t do a missile test on their main holiday. Both of which are obviously true. The insurers and reinsurers most affected by Irma were up sharply on Monday.

A Plug for Value and Dividends

Given that yields today are comparable between Uncle Sam’s benchmark government bond and the benchmark U.S. equity index, while dividend payouts have risen over time, investors should generate more income from stocks over the next ten years than from Treasuries. True, equities can go down (and up) in price, but market history shows that Value Stocks and Dividend Payers have suffered a negative return during only 3.5% or so of the 10-year periods dating back to 1927.

Metals are Looking Up

Gold is fast approaching the prior C peak last August near $1380. If gold now surpasses this level, it’ll be a super bullish move for the current C rise and a complete bull market turnaround. Let’s watch it this week. Gold shares, silver and platinum are following, which is another sign that a full-on bull market is underway. They will all remain strong by staying above their 15 week moving averages.
