Wall Street’s Best Dividend Stocks 318

The market continues to drive forward, and sentiment remains bullish, as you’ll see in our Market Views. Investors are taking all the D.C. hoopla in stride, and seem content with the favorable economy which continues to provide low unemployment and a strong housing market.

Keep Your Cool

Remain calm. This market is behaving exactly as it should be. Famed investor Bernard Baruch once said, “The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many men as possible.” The recent collapse and rebound in the stock market is just the kind of market action Mr. Baruch had in mind when he uttered these famous words. Avoiding panicked selling is the best way to outperform other investors, who usually find themselves selling low and buying high.

Looking for Consolidation

The S&P 500 again tests the top of the short term range 2700-2800, the Nasdaq 100 trades mid 7000-7250. The Short Term Composite turns down from the top of the range below 60.

Communications tests the top of short term range at 155; IT tests 1250.

Our outlook remains constructive, and we watch to buy a consolidation as short term indicators are overstretched.

Still Bullish

The market has stalled a bit and fear of a downturn has caused some rotation out of mid-cap and smaller stocks into the “relatively safer” large-cap stocks, and our FAANG Index also remains stalled. Of all the stocks in the index, Google has the best chart. I remain bullish on stocks, both here and abroad. One of the reasons is the market’s reaction to news; lots of bad news just hasn’t caused much damage, which is a sure sign of strong underlying demand.
