Wall Street’s Best Investments 821

Last month’s Cabot Wealth Summit was a great success, with many of our subscribers coming together to share investment ideas and strategies. Overall, the mood was very positive with most attendees falling into the bullish category. That sentiment is supported by my surveys of our contributors, as you’ll see in our Market Views, as well as in our Advisor Sentiment Barometer.

Shifting to Value

We have a lot of market analysts who are at a loss to understand the rotation(s) that have enabled stocks to work higher (and challenge highs) even at the risk of crying alarms. The hedgers and many technicians do so, at the same time we have allowed for shakeouts and corrections, but no catastrophic break; nor do we expect one now.

The consecutive ‘higher’ interest rates are not the indications of a ‘possible’ recession; but more like a discounting of the aftermath and recovery; again, contrary to popular perception. It’s also ‘why’ you have a shift into downtrodden and low-price (value) stocks.

Ditto

A major shift is underway on Wall Street with huge implications for retail investors. Value investing has returned to favor as asset managers dump high P/E growth stocks in favor of beaten-down corporate shares with superior fundamentals. The return of the value-oriented investing approach will breathe new life into a bull market in desperate need of an energy boost.

Still Room to Grow

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost -142.70 points or -0.50%. The Standard & Poor’s 500 lost -9.43 points or -0.31%. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost -23.17 points or -0.52%. Breadth was positive with net +208 advances on the NYSE and positive +131 net advances on the Nasdaq. Preliminary new highs were 59 with 7 new lows on the NYSE. The Nasdaq had 59 new highs and 23 new lows. The NYSE Daily Advance/Decline Line hit a new all-time high today, which normally implies the final high has not been seen.
